How to read the map

What does “Local licence only” mean?

The country licenses betting itself and enforces it, for example by blocking unlicensed sites or their payments. There we list only bookmakers that hold that country’s own licence: an international licence such as Malta’s or Curaçao’s is not enough.

What is an open market?

A country we have reviewed that does not enforce a local licence. We list every bookmaker that accepts players from there. Local laws can still apply to you, so check them before you bet.

Which countries ban online betting?

Online betting is not legal in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen, so we show no bookmaker as open there. The bookmakers’ reviews stay readable.

What are licence hubs?

Places that license bookmakers to take players abroad, such as Malta (MGA), Curaçao, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, Kahnawake and Anjouan. Their licences cover open markets, not countries that require their own licence.

Why are Visit links greyed out on another country’s list?

We show each visitor the bookmakers allowed where they are. You can still read another country’s list and every review, without Visit links or offers.

How up to date is the map?

It reads the same data as our bookmaker lists, so it changes as soon as we add a bookmaker or update a country’s rules. Countries marked “Not reviewed yet” are next on our list.
